They wanted to make a statement about their innovations when developing new products. This required a cutting edge and unique look for imagery which pushes the boundaries of modern furniture/interior design. CGI studio Pikcells approached us to help them create a series of strong of images for the client. We designed the main furniture and aided in the art direction of each of the 5 trends — Linear, Coastal, Vintage, Classic and Rough Sawn all of which were chosen by Kronospan. Each style represented the various new finishes of the "Fresh 2" collection. To mark the occasion they invited a host of illustrators and designers to submit ‘Birthday’ themed pieces for an exhibition that raised over £600 for the charity; Wood Street Mission in Manchester. Over 70 original pieces were exhibited on the night and we we’re lucky enough to submit a print of our own. We played on the well known saying; “Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts”. The solution was to use a bespoke cover that bound inserts allowing Pikcells to tailor what projects where showcased. A simple illustrative design was developed to give the subject matter an approachable and fun feel to an area that some people may find overwhelming. VAK wanted to portray a feeling of a network so ‘buddy’ icons, often found on social sites, gave the identity a grounding in the subject of the conference.
